Solar PV Floating Systems

Floating solar PV plants are an emerging form of PV systems that float on the surface of water reservoirs, quarry lakes, irrigation canals or remediation and tailing ponds.

They consist of a floating system. Also known as pontoon, it is a sturdy structure that holds the solar panel.

Where land is scarce, floating solar PV plants make it possible to generate renewable energy without taking up space that might be needed for farming or other purposes. The cooling effect of the water allows the floating solar cells to run more efficiently than on land.
